About Barrie

Located north of Toronto, the City of Barrie sits on the shores of Lake Simcoe and offers phenomenal living conditions with detached homes, family dwelling homes, bungalows, and sizable executive homes. It was once a critical resupplying point for the British forces during the War of 1812 and also the end of the road for one branch of the Underground Railroad. As Barrie is located a short distance north of Toronto, this municipality offers greenery unparallel to the concrete jungle.

Barrie is home to a multitude of parks (The Gables, Highland Park, Lennox Park, Maitland Park, Dock Road Park, Emms Park, Cedar Grove Park, Cudia Park, Barwick Park, Allandale Hrights Park, Brunton Park, to name a few), giving you the option to enjoy both what nature has to offer and a short distance away from the City of Toronto’s core.

The highway 400 runs through Barrie and provides ease of access to get in and out of Barrie and into Toronto within 40 minutes without traffic. As Barrie is an older city, it is home to a number of schools (42 elementary/public schools, 11 secondary/high schools that consist of Catholic, French and Public schools) allowing for families with children from all ages to attend the school that fits their beliefs and values. Barrie also offers public transit to ensure the city is accessible to all who reside and visit.
