About Markham

The township of Markham was initially agriculturally-driven however, as the surrounding townships and Toronto itself experiences steady growth, it was not long before Markham became urbanized. Development took off when Highway 404 surpassed the Markham area for completion. It began to develop industrially and provided a large mass of employment opportunities for residents.

Many people saw Markham as a desirable real estate market as they could work outside of Toronto and live and work in the same city while still having access to Toronto. This caused the real estate market in Markham to boom and new construction began for custom build homes, townhomes, detached and semi detached houses, condos and executive homes. Markham is made up of six major communities (Bercy Village, Markham Village, Cornell, Thornhill, Unionville and Milliken) with 19 sub-communities and they all possess amazing real estate options. Many investors are aware that Markham offers quality builds with fantastic floor plans and layouts with an abundant space to install larger lots and double care garages. With 14 public schools, 3 high schools, 2 private schools and an Anglophone Public and Catholic School, Markham offers a diverse range of schooling for families. Markham also has many shopping centers such as the First Markham Place, King Square Shopping Mall, Market Village, Pacific Mall, and Langham Square to name a few. Markham is accessible from Highway 404, 407 and highway 7. Public Transit is available through York Region Transit that links to the Toronto Transit, the GO Transit and VIVA Rail Transit.
